Straight answers.

What families ask us most. Have one we have not covered? Bring it to the free Monthly Scrimmage or email contact@athlara.com.

What is Athlara?

A decision-support and protection service for families evaluating NIL opportunities before they sign. We screen for eligibility risk, review contracts for red flags, and produce plain-language summaries that support informed decisions.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. It is 20 minutes with Ron Wilson, at no cost and with no obligation. We listen first: what is on the table, what is worrying you, and what your family needs. Request one here and we will email you within one business day with times.

We have an offer with a deadline. What should we do?

Slow down. Ask for the deadline in writing and for time to review. A partner acting in good faith should give you time to understand what you are signing; pressure to sign fast is information in itself. If the clock is running, book the free 20-minute consultation and tell us the deadline.

How is Athlara different from an agent?

We take no commissions, ever. We do not negotiate on your behalf or represent athletes, and we are not a law firm. We help families understand an offer and make a clear decision. When legal, tax, or agent representation is needed, we refer you to qualified professionals.

Are you a law firm or sports agency?

No. We provide structured education, screening, and documentation. Licensed legal, tax, and agent representation matters are referred to qualified professionals when needed.

Do you guarantee eligibility?

No. Governing bodies (the NCAA, College Sports Commission, and state high school athletic associations) make eligibility decisions. We help families identify and reduce risk before signing, and document what was reviewed.

Can my high school athlete do NIL in our state?

It depends on your state and its high school athletic association, and the rules change. Our September 2026 review of all 50 states and DC found 39 that permit high school NIL, 7 that allow it with limits, and 5 that prohibit it. Check your state's current rules before signing anything, not after.

Someone told my child they do not need us involved. Is that normal?

It is a red flag. A sound deal holds up when a parent reads it. For a high school athlete especially, families should expect to be part of the conversation. Anyone discouraging that is protecting their own interests, not your child's.

Can you help a current college athlete?

Yes, if there is already an offer or draft contract in hand. We accept college athlete cases on an inbound basis only. We do not solicit or source deals for college athletes.

What if the offer only came through DMs or text?

That is often a risk signal on its own. We review informal communications and help you determine what documentation and questions are needed before any decision is made.

What states do you cover right now?

The founding pilot is open to families in every state. Tell us your state when you join: NIL rules differ state to state, and we prioritize depth of coverage where our families are. The college-bound disclosure framework applies nationally.

What if the review does not find anything?

Then it is free. If your Family Brief does not surface at least one material risk or question you had not seen, we do not charge for the review. And if you are not sure Athlara is for you yet, start with the free 20-minute consultation.

Bring your NIL questions. Free, live, every month.
